The Root

The Root is a shared space in San Francisco for community midwifery and holistic care for women and birthing people. Four San Francisco midwives founded it in 2015 as a place to gather and build community. Its midwives offer full-spectrum care that includes homebirth, fertility consults, intrauterine insemination, postpartum integration and holistic well woman care. Root Brews, small-batch herbal blends made in line with the cycles of the moon, are also part of the offerings.

Other practitioners on site offer pelvic floor physical therapy, integrative psychiatry, holistic psychotherapy, depth hypnosis, craniosacral therapy and prenatal massage. Consult with a midwife for tinctures, tonics and oils. The space is on Sanchez Street in San Francisco, and the founders also rent space there to practitioners.
