KL Design and Build

KL Design and Build is a landscape design and installation firm led by Helena Chanko, a horticulturist, designer and licensed contractor who started the practice in 2015. The firm designs outdoor spaces, produces 3D design renderings, and builds and installs residential and commercial landscapes, including hardscape and softscape work. It also handles space styling for furniture and accessories and prepares plans for HOA submissions.

Virtual design consultations are available nationwide as 60 or 90 minute video calls, which suit people who want guidance before hiring a local installer. Installs and builds are limited to local clients in San Diego County, Orange County and Los Angeles, and onsite consultations include a survey of the property. Half of the design fee is credited toward the install when the firm does the work. Recent projects listed include gardens in Carmel Valley, La Jolla, Sorrento Valley, Pasadena and Palm Springs.
