The story

Capital Coin buys, sells, trades and appraises United States minted coins, currency and bullion, including gold, silver, platinum and palladium coins and bars. The shop also buys gold, silver and platinum jewelry and sterling silverware. Art Van Weerdhuizen and his wife Bev opened the store in spring 1981 after he left dairy farming to pursue coin collecting full time, and it is now run by three generations of the family.

The shop is at 4670 Commercial St SE in Salem, and it serves Salem, Keizer and the greater Willamette Valley. Hours are limited to Monday through Wednesday afternoons, so calling ahead is a good idea. The owners ask customers to call for current gold, silver and US coin prices.
