Coastal Canine

Coastal K9 is a dog training and behavior business run by Shannon Miller, a retired police K9 handler. It focuses on dogs with reactivity, fear, aggression, and other severe behavior problems that have not responded to ordinary classes. Services include private sessions, board and train stays for intensive cases, and drop-in intermediate group classes for dogs that already know basic obedience. Shannon has experience with real human bite cases and with fear and anxiety.

Most of the work is one on one, either at your home across the Connecticut shoreline or at the Hamden studio. Board and train stays run three weeks, or four to six weeks for the toughest cases. New clients fill out an intake form first so the trainer can learn about the dog before scheduling. Owners are taught to handle training at home so that progress lasts, and private sessions currently have a waitlist for new clients.
