For the Love of Dogs

For the Love of Dogs is a dog training school in Mendota Heights that teaches positive, reinforcement-based obedience and a range of canine sports. Classes include Canine Good Citizen preparation, rally, barn hunt, dock diving in an indoor pool, nosework and conditioning and fitness, and the school also offers canine sports massage. The head trainer, Kristin Powell, has more than 35 years of experience training and showing her own dogs and has taught agility and obedience for over a decade.

Training is done through scheduled classes and private lessons, with appointments needed for sessions outside the regular class schedule. The school is at 2415 Pilot Knob Road in Mendota Heights, and the owner, who started the business in 2005, has a steady focus on humane methods that avoid harsh corrections.
