Creating Characters Preschool Academy

Creating Characters Preschool Academy is a preschool and early childhood program in Sacramento serving children ages 2 to 5. The academy offers programs for toddlers, preschoolers, four- and five-year-olds in a transitional kindergarten track, with a focus on emotional development, early literacy and math, and character building such as responsibility, respect and empathy. Founder Jozalynne Byrd-Shakur has worked in early childhood education since 2006 and opened the academy in 2021 after running a family childcare preschool at home for about nine years.

The academy has been serving families in the North Natomas and Sacramento area since 2012. Parents mention regular photo sharing through a parent portal, periodic family celebrations, and a kindergarten graduation at the end of the year. The school is at 1513 Sports Drive in Sacramento, and its office hours are weekdays during business hours.
