Contemporary art exhibitions and performances in Jackson Ward5 Memberships 200 W. Marshall St., Richmond, VA

Gallery5 is a nonprofit visual and performing arts center in Richmond's Jackson Ward neighborhood. Its exhibitions range from themed group and solo shows to work by emerging local artists, and new work goes on display every month. The gallery also hosts live music, comedy, spoken word, film, contemporary dance and theater, and it has served as a launching pad for emerging artists and area nonprofits since it opened in 2005.
The gallery occupies Steamer Company No. 5, an 1883 firehouse that is among the oldest standing in Virginia. Its First Friday openings are free and open to the public. Regular hours are Friday and Saturday evenings, with a happy hour early in the evening, and other visits are by appointment. The space is also available for rentals, and artists can respond to open calls for entries.
