Alcoholics Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope so they can recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking, and there are no dues or fees. The Richmond area has hundreds of local groups, and the Richmond Intergroup, a nonprofit, handles the regional phone line, meeting directory and literature.

Phone volunteers are available 24 hours a day, every day, and calls are anonymous. Meetings in the Richmond region are held in person, online and in hybrid formats, with several districts meeting on different nights. The Intergroup office on Markel Road keeps weekday business hours and is closed on weekends.
