King K9 Academy

King K9 Academy is a dog training business run by trainer Joshua Antell, who works with one dog at a time on a 15-acre working farm. Its board and train programs cover puppy foundation work, on-leash obedience, and off-leash obedience with behavior modification, and it also runs small group classes of up to three dogs for owners who prefer to train their own dogs.

Training happens on the farm, which has sheep, chickens, ducks, a training barn and wooded trails, and dogs go on field trips to towns and stores along the midcoast so skills carry into everyday life. Because the trainer takes only four dogs at a time, openings are limited, so phone calls are the way to check timing. Every engagement starts with a free phone consultation. The farm is in Richmond, Maine, and the business serves Augusta, Bath, Brunswick, Portland and surrounding communities.
