Cider-style mead made with Sierra Nevada honey401 East 4th Street, Reno, NV

Black Rabbit Mead Company makes cider-style meads with honey sourced from the Sierra Nevadas. The company calls itself Nevada's first meadery, and its meads are carbonated, semi-dry, gluten-free, about 6.9% ABV, and often infused with fruits, herbs or spices. Founded by two local high school teachers, it aims to bring a drier, beer-and-cider-like style of mead to a state that had none.
The taproom and production facility is in East Downtown Reno's Brewery District, at a spot the company describes as a place for the community to gather. For now the mead is poured by the glass on tap at the taproom. Bottle and keg sales are planned to start from the taproom, with limited distribution in the Reno-Tahoe area to follow.
