Second Chance Pet Adoptions

Second Chance Pet Adoptions is a nonprofit no-kill animal rescue that takes in healthy and treatable homeless cats and dogs and places them in adoptive homes. The group describes itself as the oldest no-kill rescue in Wake County, and it works through adoption, foster care and volunteers. Rescued animals receive the medical care they need before adoption.

Adoptable cats and dogs are listed on the website, with a separate page for adopters to apply. Fostering is also a central part of the work, giving animals a temporary home until they are matched with a permanent family. The group also keeps a lifetime commitment to the animals it rescues and can take a pet back if an adopter cannot keep it. The office is on Chapel Hill Road in Raleigh, and the adoption hours are listed by appointment-free weekday times on the site.
