Builds and sells affordable homes, funded through local resale stores1750 Manzana Ave., Punta Gorda, FL
Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity is the local affiliate of the global nonprofit housing organization, building, rehabilitating and preserving homes for families in Charlotte County. Since 1987 it has helped over 580 local families become homeowners, selling homes at affordable prices to qualified applicants who meet program criteria, need affordable housing and can pay their mortgage.
The organization runs four resale stores in Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, Murdock and Englewood, and the proceeds help buy materials for its builds. Donations of furniture, appliances and electronics can be scheduled for pickup, and the group also offers a cleanout and junk removal service. Volunteers of all backgrounds are welcome on construction and store work, and no experience is needed. The office is at 1750 Manzana Ave. in Punta Gorda.
