Portsmouth Regional Hospital

Portsmouth Regional Hospital's outpatient rehabilitation program, based at its Center of Rehabilitation & Wellness, provides physical, occupational and speech therapy led by a physiatrist, a doctor who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Programs cover cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and sports injury recovery, along with balance retraining, lymphedema therapy and fall prevention. Children with developmental conditions, cerebral palsy or autism spectrum disorder can receive pediatric care coordinated with their pediatrician.

Patients can recover at home and attend therapy on a schedule that works for them, usually at a lower intensity than inpatient rehabilitation. Adult and pediatric therapy requires a referral from a physician, and Friday hours end early in the afternoon. The center also offers Pilates, yoga and Tai Chi classes, an aquatic therapy pool and a walking track, and the program is located in Portsmouth, NH.
