The Docent's Collection

The Docent's Collection rents private lofts inside historic buildings in Portland's Old Port. Each loft is furnished with Maine-made art, handcrafted furniture and fully equipped kitchens, and is meant to feel more like a luxury residence than a hotel room. Stays range from weekend getaways to long-term or business stays, and the collection has grown to three buildings.

Booking is done online, with mobile check-in and personalized service from the staff. Guests can ask for recommendations on local dining, gallery exhibits and cultural events. Every loft is within walking distance of the area's restaurants, shops and entertainment, and the company has been operating since 2019 under a partnership between East Brown Cow and Commonwealth Hotels.
