The story

Berkshire Mountain Bakery mills its own grain on a stone mill and bakes naturally leavened sourdough breads, pan loaves and sprouted grain cookies every day. The bakery is known for its sourdough pizza crusts and Take & Bake pizzas, which are sold alongside morning pastries at its original shop in Housatonic.

The Pittsfield location at 180 Elm Street is a pizza cafe serving hot, stretched sourdough pizza made from the same naturally leavened dough, along with fresh salads and treats. It offers dine-in and pickup, and it does not carry the full daily bakery lineup. Online orders for breads, cookies and crusts can be shipped, but shipping runs on Tuesdays only.
