Hospice Care

Senator Bob Hooper House is an assisted living residence that specializes in hospice care for people with a terminal illness. Its focus is quality of life in the final stages of life, with pain and symptom management, help with daily activities, counseling for patients and families, and spiritual support if desired. Care is delivered in collaboration with the hospice providers Amedisys and Gilchrist Hospice, with physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, volunteers and home health aides.

Residents must have an advanced, life-limiting illness and need help with daily activities such as bathing and medication administration. Referrals are reviewed individually. The home-like setting includes private rooms, a dining room, a family room and a playroom for younger visitors. The daily rate covers 24-hour nursing care, meals, housekeeping and laundry and is paid privately, with reduced rates possible for those who qualify.
