South Side Mission

South Side Mission is a Christian non-profit serving people in need in Peoria through a range of ministries, including a soup kitchen, a holiday meal ministry, youth programs, thrift stores and Camp Kearney. Its stated mission is to proclaim Jesus Christ and love neighbors through life-transforming ministries, and it describes its work with the 61605 zip code, which it notes is among the poorest in the country.

Youth programs include after-school tutoring, STEAM activities, mentoring and youth culinary arts. Donations of food, clothing, household items and hygiene products are accepted, and the thrift stores are supported by donation pickups. The mission is a 501(c)(3), and it notes that people do not have to be Christians to receive help. Phone (309) 676-4604 is listed for donation and thrift store questions.
