Desert plant arboretum with a cactarium and nursery6555 Address 1701 S Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA
Moorten Botanical Garden is a privately owned desert arboretum in Palm Springs with more than 3,000 varieties of desert plants, many from around the world, displayed along a nature trail. Its cactus collections range from miniature to giant, and the garden also features the world's first Cactarium, which holds rare plants seen nowhere else. Visitors can also find crystals, colorful rocks, fossils and pioneer and gold mining relics.
The garden is run by the Moorten family, who are desert plant specialists, and the grounds include Cactus Castle, their Mediterranean style home in the Palm Grove Oasis. A nursery at the front gate sells desert plants to take home. Admission is paid at the nursery counter when you arrive. The garden is open Thursday through Monday in the cooler months, and it hosts small weddings of up to 80 guests from November through May.
