Abide Omaha

Abide Omaha is a leadership network working to reduce crime and strengthen families in Omaha neighborhoods. Its central effort is the Lighthouse home, where a leader lives on the block alongside neighbors, and the group reports that neighborhoods with a Lighthouse have seen crime and violence drop by up to 75 percent. Its work is organized under Safer Neighborhoods, Stronger Families and Emerging Leaders.

Five leaders plan to climb Mount Kilimanjaro this October, with supporters giving $3 each for 52,000 steps, to raise money for a renovated Lighthouse home. Neighbors can donate or get involved through the group's serve and events programs. The organization has been operating since 1989 and is based on North 45th Street.
