NPPD

NPPD is Nebraska's public power utility, delivering electricity to homes, businesses and farms across most of the state. As a publicly owned utility and political subdivision of Nebraska, it was formed in 1970 when several earlier public power districts and systems merged. It generates power from a mix of wind, coal, water, nuclear and natural gas.

Customers can pay bills, set up payment arrangements, start or stop service, and report outages, and the outage line runs around the clock. Customer service phone lines are staffed weekday evenings and Saturday mornings, and email questions go to a customer contact specialist. Customer service centers are located around the state, and the board that governs the district is popularly elected from its service territory.
