Defensive Driving Academy

Defensive Driving Academy teaches teen and adult drivers in Newtown Square, using what it calls anticipation-based techniques rather than standard driver's ed methods. Its coaches focus on each student's weakest skills first, covering city driving, highway merging, parallel parking and shopping center lots. The academy also offers after-license and elder courses and corporate defensive driving programs for fleet clients.

The academy is certified by PennDOT to give non-commercial license tests at its Newtown Square office and at Auto Lenders in Exton, by appointment only, and says tests can be scheduled within about three days. Behind-the-wheel lessons run daily into the evening, and the office is open weekday business hours. Teen students can ask about an auto insurance discount for lesson costs.
