Newport

Coasters Harbor Island Marina is the recreational marina run by Navy MWR on Naval Station Newport. It supports boating with berthing, fishing, sail and powerboat training, and a launch ramp, and its rental fleet includes Rhodes 19 sailboats and an 18-foot Maritime Skiff. The marina sits next to the Officers' Club, just inside Gate 1.

Renters need a safe boating certification, a local written exam and a check-ride with a marina instructor, and anyone without a state certificate can complete a Rhode Island boating course first. Active-duty patrons can reserve boats up to two days ahead, and other eligible patrons up to one day ahead. The marina is open year round with shorter hours in winter, and it takes all major credit cards. Access is limited to people with valid ID and base access, such as active-duty members, retirees, dependents and veterans.
