Licking County

The Licking County Prosecutor's Office handles three kinds of county legal work. The Adult Felony Division prosecutes felonies including robbery, burglary, domestic violence, drug offenses, fraud, child abuse and homicide. The Juvenile Division handles cases involving juvenile offenders, along with protective custody and neglect or abuse cases involving children. The Civil Division serves as legal counsel for most county offices and departments, the township governments and some school districts.

Adult misdemeanors are generally prosecuted by the city or village where the offense occurred, and by the Newark City Law Director's Office in unincorporated areas. The Victim Witness Division supports crime victims and witnesses moving through the criminal justice system. Most adult felony case status can be checked through the Common Pleas Clerk of Courts database, and the office is open on weekdays in Newark.
