Schoop's Hamburgers

Schoop's has served handcrafted burgers since 1948, when Allen Schoop opened the first restaurant on Calumet Avenue in Hammond, Indiana. The burgers are made from fresh, never frozen beef, hand formed and cooked to a crispy crust. Golden French fries, thick shakes, and chili and soups made fresh daily round out the menu, and the onion rings are a popular pick. Some locations also serve breakfast.

The restaurants are spread across the Calumet Region of Indiana and Illinois, and the Highland location is on 45th Street. Many locations take orders at the counter, while some offer online ordering or delivery through UberEats. The chain has grown through franchising, so each restaurant is run locally within a shared menu and cooking method.
