The Farm Sitter®

The Farm Sitter provides farm sitting and pet care for horses, barn animals, backyard chickens, dogs, cats and other домашние animals while owners are away. Visits can be short daily check-ins with chores, extended stays or overnights, and quick pet checks for more independent animals like barn cats. The business also offers wellness checks on homes and property for people who are away without pets, such as rotating lights and blinds, watering plants and handling mail or garbage.

Visits are arranged through a request form on the website, and responsibilities and rates for longer stays are negotiable with each client. Emergency and short-notice care is only available to existing clients, subject to availability, and the business does not provide veterinary care. The company is based in Peoria, Illinois, and is expanding its network of local farm sitters to more areas over time.
