Capital Brewery

Capital Brewery is a Middleton brewery founded in 1984 to make traditional German-style lager in America. Its copper kettles, brought from Krekeler Brewery in Hoxter, Germany, are still in use and still produce Special Pilsner and Munich Dark. The brewery also makes American-style ales, barrel-aged beers, hard seltzers and several IPAs, and its Capital Amber has been sold in cans since 1999. A non-alcoholic Wisconsin Amber is also on the lineup.

The Bier Garten runs May through October and is known locally as Middleton's Backyard, with live music and public and private events. The indoor Bier Stube and Grain Room are open in winter, roughly November through April, and both are available for private events. Dogs are not allowed inside, and they must be leashed outdoors, with no dogs during some live music and special events. Tours can be scheduled through the website. The brewery is at 7734 Terrace Ave. in Middleton.
