Captain Sid's Seafood is a seafood market in Bucktown known for fresh and boiled seafood, especially boiled crawfish and blue crabs seasoned with its own house seafood blend. The menu also includes crabmeat by the pound, shrimp, oysters, stuffed crabs and mirlitons, and cooked sides like gumbo, bisque and etouffee. The business was started in 1979 by Sidney "Captain Sid" Patrick, who invented the seasoning, and his nephew Ray Schlaudecker now runs it.
The shop sells its seasoning blend so customers can boil seafood at home, and it also ships seafood and seafood boil across the country. Crawfish are sold live only during the season, and staff recommend calling ahead because items can sell out. The market is at 1700 Lake Avenue in Metairie.
