Reclaimed Building Materials in Phoenix

Stardust sells gently used, salvaged and surplus building materials at 50 to 80 percent off regular retail prices, including appliances, fixtures and cabinetry. It was founded in 1997 after a local philanthropist's remodel materials were given away instead of sent to the landfill, and it now runs deconstruction crews that salvage materials from residential and commercial jobs across the Phoenix area.

Contractors and homeowners can arrange a home pickup or a deconstruction job, and donations are tax-deductible because Stardust is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The Mesa reuse center on Broadway Road is its largest store, with more than 40,000 square feet of retail space and a section of furniture, home decor and pet supplies from partner nonprofits. Purchases are sales tax free, and the store is closed on Sundays.
