Black Bird

Black Bird is a family-owned outdoor sporting goods and hardware store in Medford, known for its hunting, fishing and camping departments. It also carries work and hiking boots, clothing, a housewares section with canning and food-preservation supplies, cheese-making and brew-making equipment, and a large Lodge cookware selection. The store started in 1965 as an army surplus store and is recognized by the giant black bird statue out front.

In summer the shop rents stand-up paddleboards and can outfit a river float, and in winter it runs a ski shop with ski and snowboard rentals. The Medford store is at the Black Bird Shopping Center on W. Main Street, and a second location in Phoenix, Oregon, includes a tap room and rotating food trucks.
