Zen Dog Training

Zen Dog Training offers in-home dog training and group puppy classes built on positive reinforcement, with fear-free and force-free methods. Trainers work on problems such as play biting, separation anxiety, and shy or fearful dogs, and can also cover agility, off-leash obedience and therapy dog preparation. The approach is aimed at owners as much as dogs, teaching families how to handle a dog's daily routine, mealtimes, walks and play sessions to build new habits.

The business has been training dogs since 2005. Sessions are set up through a free consultation, which can be done by phone, and in-home visits are tailored to each dog's breed, age and temperament. Gift certificates are available, and the company also sells online training solutions and an eBook for new puppy owners. Its base is on Medford Street in Somerville.
