Ernie's Bike Shop sells and services bicycles, with tune-ups, repairs, bike fitting, hitch installs and maintenance classes alongside sales and rentals. The shop also carries skateboards and cycling gear. The flagship Massillon store has been at the Lake Avenue Trailhead since 2003, and the business began in 1978 before opening locations in North Canton and New Philadelphia.
Tune-ups are walk-in: bring a bike to any location and a mechanic will look it over, recommend a level and give an estimate before work begins. Three tune-up levels are offered, starting at $49.99, and repair parts are priced separately. The Massillon store sits on the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, with rental bikes, plenty of parking and heated trailside restrooms. Not all inventory appears online, so calling ahead for specific items is worthwhile.
