Barbed Wire Books

Barbed Wire Books is a bookstore on Main Street in Longmont that sells new and used books, with a strong Western Americana section and a selection of local and Colorado interest titles. The shop also carries maps of local areas and guides to the region's plants, animals, geology and weather, and it can locate out-of-print titles and order new ones.

Used books can be brought in and traded for store credit toward other used books, and the staff can help with appraisals and building a collection. The store hosts readings, author signings and small literary group gatherings, and it offers teachers' discounts for classroom orders. The owner, Kathe Heinecken, is happy to make recommendations.
