Tallgrass is a boutique fine dining restaurant serving modern French-Midwestern cuisine, blending classic French technique with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. The menu changes often, sometimes daily, and the kitchen works directly with local farms and regional purveyors. Executive Chef Theron Walker leads the kitchen under new ownership.
The restaurant has been open since 1981 and occupies a restored 19th century building in historic downtown Lockport. Dinner is served Thursday through Sunday evenings, and the restaurant offers a wine list, craft cocktails and gift cards. Guests come from Lockport, Plainfield, Joliet, Lemont, Romeoville and the Chicago area, so reservations are worth making ahead.
