Interfaith Caring Ministries

Interfaith Caring Ministries is a nonprofit founded in 1985 by area houses of worship to help local families, individuals and seniors through financial emergencies. Its main programs include rent and utility assistance, an on-site food pantry, senior outreach, school supplies and holiday gifts for children. The ICM Resale Shop in Webster sells donated clothing, furniture and household goods, and its proceeds fund those programs.

Help depends on proof of residency and documented financial need, regardless of religious belief. Residents of the Clear Creek and Friendswood school districts are served, and people outside that area can be pointed to the right agency by calling 211. Food pantry visits are by appointment. Shoppers aged 62 and older get 20% off at the resale shop on Tuesdays, and military and first responders get 25% off on Wednesdays, though fine jewelry and furniture are excluded. Large furniture donations are picked up on a scheduled basis, so it helps to book about two weeks ahead.
