MACS

MACS is an industry group for the mobile air conditioning and thermal management field. It provides training, certification and a member community for people who work on vehicle climate systems. Its best-known offering is the EPA Section 609 certification, which covers the federal rules for recovering, recycling and disposing of refrigerant. The group also runs skills courses on the J2845 and J3126 certificate programs and publishes ACtion Magazine for the trade.

Technicians can take the 609 test, buy study materials or request a replacement for a lost 609 card online without a phone call. Training can be delivered at a shop's own facility using its own vehicles, or taken live or online. Membership gives access to members-only resources and past magazine issues. The mailing address is in Lansdale, Pennsylvania.
