RMI Optics

RMI Optics makes custom optical components and thin-film coatings for laser, imaging and defense customers, covering wavelengths from deep UV to far infrared. Its known work includes 1064nm near-infrared laser coatings, mid-wave infrared imaging coatings for defense applications, and CO2 laser coatings, along with diamond-turned IR optics and opto-mechanical assemblies built to OEM specifications.

The company operates a 70,000 square foot U.S. facility with more than 90 staff and says it handles projects in-house from design through metrology and clean room assembly. It is family owned and has been in business since 1957. The company is located at 106 Laser Drive in Lafayette, Colorado, and most work is quoted through its request form or by phone for larger projects.
