PARU

PARU is a tea company that sells specialty teas and matcha sourced directly from farmers, along with original blends inspired by Southeast Asian heritage. Its best-known products include premium-grade matcha for baking and lattes, ceremonial matcha, garden-direct teas from family farms, and a range of loose leaf teas and teaware.

The shop on Girard Avenue in La Jolla focuses on tea and tasting experiences, including tea tastings, a traditional bowl of matcha and a Japanese tea ceremony. Since August 2024 it no longer serves drinks. Visitors should note that a farmers' market runs on the street on Sundays, which can affect parking. Gift cards are available, and the shop has a short online catalog for ordering.
