PARTA, the Portage Area Regional Transportation Authority, runs public bus service across Portage County, with fixed routes serving Kent, Akron, Ravenna, Streetsboro, Stow and several nearby townships. It also operates the Dial-A-Ride shared-ride service for riders who cannot use fixed routes, including trips to medical appointments, and a same-day on-demand shared-ride service called POGO in Streetsboro and the nearby Aurora industrial corridor. Kent State University commuter routes are part of its service.
The authority is governed by a 14-member Board of Trustees, and its board meetings are open to the public. Its administrative offices and garage are at 2000 Summit Road in Kent, and the Kent Central Gateway Transit Center and parking garage is also run by PARTA. Its compressed natural gas fueling station there is open to the public, and fleet and private vehicles are welcome.
