Western Transmission

Western Transmission is a transmission repair and rebuild shop in Idaho Falls, working on transmissions, clutches, differentials, drivetrains and diesel systems. The shop also handles general auto repair and diagnostics for Asian, European and domestic cars, trucks and SUVs. Its transmissions are remanufactured units from Certified Transmission, which it describes as the sole authorized reseller of those units in Idaho.

The shop has operated since 1969, when James R. McGeachin opened it as an AAMCO franchise before going independent. It moved to a larger facility on West Broadway in late 2017. Appointments can be booked online, estimates are given before work starts, and repairs carry a 36-month or 36,000-mile warranty. Service extends to Ammon, Iona, Irwin, Ririe, Swan Valley, Ucon and other Bonneville County communities.
