Hawaii Property Insurance Association

Hawaii Property Insurance Association, usually called HPIA, is the plan administrator for a property insurance plan covering Hawaii homeowners. The association publishes the plan's coverage limits, eligible areas, effective dates of coverage and submission guidelines, and it handles claims reporting for policyholders.

Homeowners cannot buy directly from HPIA, since the association does not work with consumers. Anyone interested in coverage needs to contact a licensed insurance agent, and the association keeps a listing of agencies that have done business with it, organized by island. The administrative office is in Honolulu.
