Red Wagon Plants grows plants and culinary herbs in Hinesburg, and its bake shop is open Thursday through Sunday with a rotating menu. Cold-hardy plants are typically ready by April, and warm-weather plants like peppers and tomatoes usually come out the Tuesday after Mother's Day. Red Wagon does not take pre-orders or wish lists, but staff will call when a specific plant is ready. Online orders are generally ready for pickup the next business day, and the herb salts and vinegars can ship by USPS. Several Vermont stores, including Gardener's Supply and City Market, also carry its plants.
