Half Moon Bay Kayak Company

Half Moon Bay Kayak Company rents single and double kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and bikes, and leads guided paddles among seals and seabirds in the protected waters of Pillar Point Harbor. Experienced paddlers can also head out into the open Pacific. The owner, Chris Manchester, is an outdoor educator who has taught sea kayaking and wilderness medicine for NOLS, Outward Bound and the American Canoe Association.

Private instruction, corporate trips and private events are also offered, and kayak storage is available. Wetsuits and waterproof paddle jackets come with classes, rentals and tours, and bike rentals include helmets and locks. Bookings can be made online or by phone, and group trips should be reserved early by email. The shop operates out of Pillar Point Harbor, and the summer schedule runs daily except Tuesdays, with shorter hours in the off season.
