The Maryland Theatre is a historic performing arts venue in downtown Hagerstown, known for concerts, dance recitals, films, comedians, orchestral performances, plays and talent competitions. The historic auditorium seats 1,293 across two levels and serves as the home of several regional arts groups, including the symphony orchestra, a community ballet school and a community theatre company.
The venue also hosts private events such as weddings, rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, birthday parties, business meetings and conferences. A 2019 Performing Arts Center expansion added about 35,000 square feet of event space, including a ballroom, VIP suite, meeting rooms, a cocktail lounge and a grand lobby. The theatre is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, and it is located at 21 South Potomac Street in downtown Hagerstown.
