Rainy Day Yarns & Mercantile is a yarn and fiber arts shop selling local hand-dyed yarn, sock yarn, hooks, needles, notions and project kits. The shop also carries a mix of mercantile and miscellaneous items, offers classes, and hosts a sock group that meets Tuesdays.
The shop has been open for 13 years, and the owners are retiring. They plan to close in December 2026 and hope someone who loves fiber arts will take it over. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10am to 3pm. Walk-ins are no longer accepted except for quick questions, so private lessons are arranged by phone. Gift certificates are no longer being issued and rewards have ended, and existing gift certificates expire after December 31, 2026. Online orders are available, though some items may not ship if inventory is off.
