Humane Society of Broward County

The Humane Society of Broward County is an animal shelter that places dogs, cats and other pets such as bunnies and guinea pigs into adoptive homes. Its programs include adoption, animal surrender, low-cost spay/neuter and vaccination clinics, microchipping, behavior and training help, and end-of-life and cremation services. Volunteers, foster families and donors support the work, and the organization also runs animal-assisted therapy teams and youth and adult education programs.

Adoption is the main draw, and the shelter lists available pets and adoption stories on its site. Its events include a Halloween trivia night, a holiday shopping bazaar and a spring gala. Visitors can tour the shelter, and the staff can help residents with pet loss, pet-friendly housing and lost pets. The shelter is at Griffin Road in Fort Lauderdale.
