Inductive Automation

Inductive Automation makes Ignition, an industrial automation software platform used to collect plant data and build SCADA, HMI, MES, alarming and reporting applications on a single system. The company was founded in 2003 by Steve Hechtman, a systems integrator, and Ignition is sold by the server rather than per client, tag or connection. Ignition runs on Windows, Linux and macOS, and the company offers a full free trial and free online training courses through Inductive University.

The software can connect to SQL databases, PLCs through OPC servers, and MQTT and other data sources. Companies that want help can work with one of the Ignition integrators listed on the company's site. Inductive Automation is based in Folsom, California, where it is headquartered on Blue Ravine Road.
