Handmade Ukrainian comfort food and fermented pickles300 South Central Avenue, Flagler Beach, FL

Pierogi Shop makes Ukrainian comfort food by hand, including fourteen kinds of pierogi, pork kielbasa, stuffed cabbage rolls, borscht and blintzes. Cabbage and sauerkraut pierogi and naturally fermented pickles are central to the menu, and the shop also bakes buns and sells Napoleon and honey cream cake. The recipes come from a grandmother who trained as a chef and worked as a sous chef at a Ukrainian resort in the Catskills, and her grandson, a culinary school graduate.
The storefront offers a dine-in menu along with grab-and-go and retail items. Pierogies are fully cooked and then frozen, so they keep for up to six months in the freezer, and boiling, air frying, pan frying, steaming and microwaving are all covered for reheating. The shop is in a unit on South Central Avenue in Flagler Beach, and the owners also sell at farmers markets in Ormond Beach and St. Augustine.
