Action K9 Sports

Action K9 Sports is a herding facility for dogs of any breed, begun in 1985 as the San Pasqual Herding Facility. It offers herding lessons for complete beginners and for experienced handlers, with training tailored to whether a dog is loose-eyed or strong-eyed. Dogs from about six months to ten years old are welcome.

The owner and operator, Terry Parrish, keeps 150 head of sheep for training and herding trial purposes. The property covers six acres across the road from the San Diego Safari Park in Escondido, about ten minutes off the 15 Freeway. Owners can try an instinct test to see whether their dog wants to herd, and the facility has several arena sizes, including open fields, for handlers who are advancing.
