Southern comfort food with a boutique upstairs251 West Dixie Ave., Elizabethtown, KY
Back Home Restaurant serves Southern home cooking on West Dixie Avenue in downtown Elizabethtown. It is known for fried green tomatoes, Poppy's meatloaf, and the Original Hot Brown, and the menu also includes chicken fried chicken, country-fried steak, burgers, salads, and sandwiches. Homemade peach cobbler and fried pies finish the meal. The restaurant grew out of a family shop that sold crafts and antiques, and a boutique still operates on the upper level.
Takeout is available every day, and the restaurant also delivers. Hours run until 9 PM on most weeknights and Saturdays, with Sunday service ending mid-afternoon, so it suits a late dinner or a Sunday lunch. Beer and wine are served, along with sweet tea and gin lemonade. Families and groups will find the sides and entrees made for sharing.
