Early American trades museum and Henry Mercer's concrete castle84 South Pine Street, Doylestown, PA

Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle are two concrete landmarks built by Henry Mercer, a tile maker and collector, in Doylestown. The Mercer Museum holds a large collection of Early American trades and tools, along with some of the oldest artifacts in the collection, including a whale oil lamp and Native American implements. Fonthill Castle was Mercer's home, completed in 1910, with 44 rooms, 18 fireplaces and tiles from Persia, China, Spain and the Netherlands alongside his own Arts and Crafts designs.
The museum runs tours, school and youth group programs, family activities and summer camp, and it operates the Research Library, which has county archives and photographs. Fonthill also hosts tours, seasonal events and yoga. The two sites are on separate addresses, with the museum at 84 South Pine Street and the castle on East Court Street near Route 313.
